Abraham Lincoln

Nathan and Xander were discussing the name of one of Xanders stuffed animals last night, while we were driving to Aikido. Since they were trapped in the car and near vicinity of me, I got to listen to the whole conversation.

Xander wants to rename his webkin. Her name is Tieggy. Nathan told him that her name is automatically Tieggy Salzer, because she is part of our family. Xander wants a different last name for her. So Nathan suggested Lincoln, after Abraham Lincoln. Xander told him that Abraham Lincoln is a *weird* name, which made Nathan snap at him. "Abraham Lincoln was a very important person, because he was an old president!" I wasn't surprised that Nathan knew that, as we just passed Presidents Day and they talked about it in school. But I was curious to know if he knew anything else about this important person. He did. He said that Abraham Lincoln stopped slavery. I asked if he knew what slavery was and he said "it is when people make different kinds of people do work for them. Like you do to me! I am a slave!!!"

I had to explain the difference between chores and responsibility and being a slave.... And while he may have more chores than his friends do, I still don't think he has too many chores... And I don't think I work him like a slave. *Although*......
