Plans for the summer are few this year. We just took an amazing trip to DisneyWorld. I wiped out my vacation time and money with that trip. It was totally worth it.
We took the boys out of school for a week. They had no clue that we were going, until we got to airport and unloaded luggage from the car. They each had something to carry, which tipped them off. We gave them a card with a "clue" on it at the Spokane airport. They had to figure out the next stop. Pete figured out pretty quickly that we were headed to Denver (first layover), but he couldn't figure out what was there. Turns out it was another airplane. We gave them the next flight number and they had to find out which gate we would go to, and then get us there. Pete did it with minimal help. The departure board was a little confusing for a 9-year old. Heck, it's confusing for his Mom!! They got us to Orlando, but didn't know what was there. It when we were on the train between the Gate and the baggage claim that they found out where we were going. Someone on the train said to them "you must be going to DisneyWorld!". Both of them were speechless and it made the whole little encounter a little awkward.
We stayed at Animal Kingdom lodge. There were real live giraffes outside our balcony!! I know most people who read this blog are also friends on facebook, so forgive me since I don't have the pics posted here, but I'd be posting the same ones. I have no idea where they are on this computer right now... Maybe I'll get around to posting them someday, but I think you all know better.
Anyway, the kids had a GREAT time at 4 Disney parks in 5 days, and one day at Universal Studios park (we got to see Hogwarts from the outside. We were a month early for the grand opening and everything was still all covered up).
That was our big adventure for the summer and it wasn't even summer yet when we went. So now the boys have 10 more weeks of summer camp to look forward to. They are taking swimming lessons again now. And I am planning a library trip each week. I don't like to take them to the library. I find it very frustrating. But it is good for them, and it is good for me. And I'm going to try hard to do it regularly.
I think we might try to sneak in some geocaching as well. My cousin told me I'm very far behind. I'll be planning on a trip or two next month.
For now, I'm going to go make a hot cup of tea. Summer hasn't quite decided to come and stay yet. Today it is chilly and raining.... again.
