Rainstorm in the Alps

I ran out of battery on my camera.  Cap'n and Oma drive to town to get more.  We are having a wonderful thunderstorm right now.  We watched it blow in and now I'm enjoying the sound of the rain and the cool fresh air.

The most exciting part of the rainstorm here is watching the Lech river.  When we arrived it was a beautiful green color.  It had glacial flour in suspension making it a color you don't expect to see.  As the week went on the color seemed to be less and less green.  It was quite hot out, but I suspected that the sediment was settling out.  The night before last there was a big storm with lots of rain.  The river rose about 3 feet I think and turned to a putty color.  It is back to bright green today.  So I think I was right.  The sediment makes it that color and as it settles it goes back to blue.  A good storm will stir it all up again. I'll get a picture of the river when I can... if I remember.

My good friend joined us from Norway, with her children, for a few days.  It's so good to see her.  Our average is once every 18 years or so, right now....  by the time I see her again I'll be almost 40.  Yep  40.  (It's my own math, leave me alone).  The visit was the best.  I simply can not wait 18 more years to see her.  Our kids played will together even though they didn't speak the same language at all.  The young daughter was trying very hard to learn some English words.  I must say she put in much more effort than my kids did.  Pete and Repete did try hard to play games together.  And the activities that they all did were all full of laughter!

Repete woke up with another tummy ache this morning.  He ate icecream yesterday so I had hoped that was the cause.  And I hoped that until he threw up.  Then when he was done throwing up I had hopes that the fresh air would be good for him.  Everyone was going for a walk along a roman road.  So Repete and I went along.  And he did great.  Then he threw up again.... poor kid.  We got back to the hotel and he went to bed and slept for a few hours.  He is awake now and is watching Phineas and Ferb.  It's in German, but they are both laughing a lot.  I guess cartoons are funny in any language.

OK.  Off to try to do a load of laundry!!
