I joined Pinterest recently. I can waste all kinds of time looking at other people being cute, creative, and motivated. It’s fun. It might even help me get motivated a little. But that’s another story.
I saw a really cute picture of an unusual ear piercing. I wear 3 hoops in my left ear and still have room for a regular pair of earring to change up. The right side only has the 2 holes, the top one is a hoop. I have worn the hoops for 12 years without ever taking them out. They are just me. But I really like this picture and I resolved to do it.
But it’s not cheap to get your ear pierced at a reputable piercing shop. And your typical ear piercing place won’t do cartilage anyway (not that I’d go there, I’m thinking professional!). And who has time to go get it done? And who has the guts? It looks like a pretty tender place.
I’ve also always wanted a teeny tiny stud in my nose. One you don’t necessarily notice right away. It doesn’t call out "look at me!", but when you it’s notices it sparkles just a little bit.
For Christmas I got a gift card for Silver Safari in Spokane. It’s a well known piercing studio in our area. Santa told me it was for one ear and a nose! Wow! Ok. One obstacle of mine is gone. It’s already paid for. Now I *have* to do it.
But I’ve already told myself that a nose stud should wait till I reach my goal weight. (So I’ll likely never get it. You can breathe in relief, Mom.) It’s kind of something I was saving to reward myself. Even though I haven’t really gotten off my tail and even started.
But I could do the ear.
So I made an appointment and went in. When I checked in the girl asked "Is this the Pinterest piercing?". It made me laugh. Here I was, thinking I was brave and a bit unusual, and it’s popular enough that the shop knows where I got the idea! I confirmed that it was the Pinterest piercing and asked how many people come in for it. She said lots of people come in to get it, but most people find out they won’t walk away from the shop with 3 glittering studs and they leave without it. The shop will only do 2 piercings at one time, and you get to wear hoops until the holes heal up. I’ll admit that I was also a bit disappointed that I couldn’t wear the glitter right away, but I also don’t mind hoops, and sometimes you have to do things you don’t want in order to get the things you do.
So I did it!
It didn’t even hurt that much to get. It was more sore a week after. I changed out all my old hoops for the glitter instead and I’m really happy with the new ones. I might even decide I like the hoops better than the studs. We will see. ( I think I need another stud above the garnet, they don’t line up!)
